Time Now
to Plan Circuit Convocation
This is the year of the Circuit Convocation!
Next year (2006) there will be District Conventions and
the following year (2007) will be the next synodical
Convention.
Many circuits have already planned their convocations.
But if yours has not, here are some reasons for you to
take leadership in planning one:
·
the
leadership of the congregations of the circuit get to know
each other
·
a
time to get to know the professional staff of the
congregations of the circuit
·
a
time to celebrate the ministries of the congregations of the
circuit
·
a
time to learn mission opportunities in your circuit
·
a
time to celebrate the ministries of the District
·
a
time to celebrate the ministries of the Synod
·
a
time to get up to speed on ABLAZE.
·
a
time to consider a circuit ABLAZE project
·
a
time to lift up the professional church workers of the circuit
in prayer
Here
are some ways to consider doing a Circuit Convocation:
·
a
gathering beginning with a devotion, continuing with
presentations, ending with an eating event
·
a
Bible study, perhaps on I Corinthians 12 or Romans 12 on one
body, different parts as experienced in one circuit, many
congregations
·
presentations
might be made by the District President or a member of his
staff
·
presentation
on the ABLAZE movement
·
a
video report by each parish on its history and mission
statement
·
a
video report by a circuit committee on a potential Circuit
project
·
a
presentation on election and issues facing the District at its
next convention
·
a
"booth" by each congregation with sample materials
·
a
presentation on selecting congregations delegates to the next
District Convention
·
a
presentation on congregations selecting nominees for the
Circuit delegates to the next Synodical convention
We
at Jesus First Leadership urge circuits to conduct a
convocation in 2005 so that the Spirit of Christ may work
through us. We are convinced that these are urgent and
exciting times to be a force in the world that connects people
to Jesus. It is an exciting time to do all we can to help
everyone who comes in contact with a congregation Lutheran
Church-Missouri Synod to
see Jesus first! VDG
